Close to forty boys and girls, ages 7 to 14, participated in a local Pitch, Hit and Run Competition last weekend at Burton Wells ballpark sponsored by Aquafina and Major League Baseball. Free to all competitors, this event, hosted by the Beaufort Kiwanis, was a tremendous success with fourteen of the winners advancing to the Sectional PH&R competition to be held at Grayson Stadium in Savannah on 14 May.
Congratulations go to Griffin Stone and Seth Parsick (7/8 year group); Dearius Hazel and Jaheem Hazel (9/10 age group); Ty Grizzell, Landon Thorpe, Mathew Cieplowski, Ryan Murray-Green, and Kyle Lanning (11/12 year group); Tyler Carroll and Mark Hetrick (13/14 year group); Hannah Phillips (girls 9/10 year group); and Caroline O’Hara and Anna Grace Waters (girls 11/12 year group). Thanks to Beaufort County PALS for use of the Burton Wells ball field and to all the youngsters and their families who came out to enjoy this exciting baseball skills competition.
Winners at the upcoming Sectional competition may advance to a regional competition with an opportunity to advance even higher at the 2011 All Star game to be held in Phoenix, Arizona for the national competition. Beaufort Kiwanis thanks those organizations and families who helped make this an exciting success for our children and invite everyone to mark their calendars for next year’s competition!
