Beaufort taps Pugliese to partner with Dominion

From staff reports

Neal Pugliese has done such a good job in Mossy Oaks, he’s picked up some more work.

The City of Beaufort has named Pugliese its senior project coordinator to partner with Dominion Energy as Dominion continues its current tree-pruning rotation.

Pugliese, a retired U.S. Marines colonel, is also the chairman of the Mossy Oaks Multijurisdictional Drainage Task Force, and is overseeing that infrastructure project for the City of Beaufort.

Pugliese will work with Dominion’s project supervisor and arborist, Will Epting, along with the City’s contracted arborist, Michael Murphy of Tree Preservation LLC, as Dominion continues its rotational pruning to ensure that power lines remain safe.

Murphy was to hold a refresher training for contractor crews working for Dominion on Tuesday, Jan. 12.

“We want to make sure that trees are cut to appropriate standards while also ensuring that our high-tension wires remain safe,” Pugliese said in a Monday release.

Dominion estimates that approximately 40 percent of the pruning is done in the current rotation. Still to be done are approximately 11 miles of streets.

Residents with questions or concerns can call Pugliese at 843-470-3512 or email him at npugliese@cityofbeaufort.org or call Dominion’s South Carolina customer care line at 800-251-7234.

Pugliese will make regular updates, usually on Friday, to ensure that residents are kept current. Those will be shared on the City’s social media pages, including Facebook and Nextdoor.
