Joseph Geilman’s first-period pin in the final match of the night lifted Battery Creek to a 47-35 dual victory at Hilton Head High on Tuesday.
The Dolphins built a big early lead with a string of five straight wins — four by pin and one by forfeit — and led 41-17 after Joseph Rivera’s pin at 220 pounds, but the Seahawks won four straight matches by pin or forfeit to move into position to tie with a pin in the final match.
Geilman had other ideas, though, and he earned the clinching pin just 33 seconds into the match.
“I am very proud of the guys tonight,” first-year Battery Creek coach Deandre Johnson said. “Of course, there is plenty of work to be done, but the guys are learning really fast. They are very confident, and winning tonight only makes it that much better.”
