Prevailing on the road, Battery Creek defeated host Garrett Academy Tech 25-20 in a high school football game on Friday night. The Dolphins downed longtime rival Garrett Academy Tech for a conference victory. With the win, Battery Creek improved to 2-4. Garrett Tech Academy dropped to 5-1 with the loss.
Prior to Friday night’s matchup, Garrett Academy Tech had posted wins over Burke, Baptist Hill, Allendale-Fairfax, Military Magnet Academy and R.B. Stall. Leading Battery Creek to the win, Tyrone Dilbert rushed for two touchdowns. Contributing offensively for the Dolphins, Adonis Williams and Alterell Chapman added one touchdown apiece.
Defensively for Battery Creek, a team under the direction of head coach Jim Shuman, Sonja Jones ranked as the top tackler and teammates Porter Mahon and Justin Cochran recorded one interception apiece.
The Dolphins remained in the win column after defeating Ridgeland-Hardeeville in late-September. Battery Creek is scheduled to visit North Charleston on Friday, October 16.
