Just after noon, Tuesday, Dec. 30, a car drove into a church off Ribaut Road in Port Royal.
At approximately 12:02 p.m., the City of Beaufort/Town of Port Royal Fire Department Engine Company 3 and Battalion 1 responded to a call for a vehicle collision with a building involving injuries at 1544 Ribaut Road, where a sport-utility vehicle driven by a 60-year-old man was involved in a single-car crash at Iglesia Christiana Fe y Obras.

According to Capt. Norman McCown of the Port Royal Police Department, the driver was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
McCown said there was no alcohol involved in the crash, and there are no criminal charges at this time. The crash may have been medically related, he said.
The two northbound lanes of Ribaut Road were closed for about 30 minutes. Northbound traffic was routed through the center lane.
