From staff reports

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday, Sept. 12, the transfer of 21-year-old Jayvon Andre Garrett of Beaufort to the Beaufort County Detention Center (BCDC), making him the fifth suspect charged in relation to the September 2024 Burton killing of 17-year-old Arianna Mulligan.

According to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), Garrett is being held on arrest warrants for murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and aggravated breach of peace.

To date, five adults have been arrested in connection with this case, all facing the same charges of murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and aggravated breach of peace. All remain in custody at the Beaufort County Detention Center:

  • Jeremiah Kieyonte Warren, 19, of St. Helena Island;
  • Rashod Lorenzo Williams, 19, of Grays Hill; and
