Bluffton Artisan Market

Halloween Comes to Bluffton Artisan Markets

1-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, in the parking lot at Southern Barrel in Buckwalter Plaza in Bluffton. Trick-or-treating, costume contest and a “Best Decorated Booth” competition. Costume-clad children are invited to trick-or-treat. Masks are required and social distancing best practices are encouraged.

Beaufort High School Hackers Scramble Tournament

8:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 24, Olde Beaufort Golf Course, Lady’s Island. Shotgun start, 3-person teams. Prizes for Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive and Straightest Drive. Hole-In-One Contest features a new golf cart courtesy of Beaufort Carts. Tournament benefits the Beaufort High Girls Golf, Wrestling, and Softball teams. GOP Get Out The Vote Tailgate Rally

2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, GOP headquarters, 149 Riverwalk Blvd., Suite 11, Ridgeland. All Beaufort County Republican Clubs will be participating, and GOP candidates for locals offices will be speaking.

Hocus Pocus on Screen on Green

6-8:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30, 205 Main Street in Hardeeville. The City of Hardeeville Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department is hosting a COVID friendly Screen on the Green Movie screening of Hocus Pocus as well as a socially distanced Costume Contest. The Drive-in Movie is a free event for the community. There will be prizes for the winners of the Costume Contest for ages 0-4, 5-8, 9-12 and 13-and-older. The event will be held behind City Hall. Pat Conroy Literary Festival

Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 5–8 in a virtual setting. This year’s festival will be held as a series of live-streamed author presentations and panel discussions, online writing workshops, exhibits, and virtual tours. The 2020 festival will be highlighted by appearances by Brad Taylor, former U.S. Army Special Forces officer and now the New York Times best-selling author of the Pike Logan thriller series; Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Award-winning artist Mary Whyte, author of We the People: Portraits of Veterans in America; and, from A Measure of Belonging: Twenty-One Writers of Color on the New American South, editor Cinelle Barnes and contributing writers Latria Graham and Gary Jackson.
