Walk for Water off to early start

From staff reports

Two area teams got head start on the annual Beaufort Walk for Water on Saturday and Sunday, completing 3-mile treks in Habersham and on the Spanish Moss Trail, respectively.

Walk for Water symbolizes the walk millions of women and children in developing countries make daily to collect often-unsafe water.

Nearly two dozen other teams will walk the following Saturday, Sept. 26 at locations across the area as part of this year’s virtual Walk for Water. The event promotes awareness of the global water crisis and raises money for Water Mission to build safe water and hygiene solutions in developing countries and disaster areas. Up to 400 walkers are expected in total, raising approximately $50,000 for Water Mission.
