VETERAN OF THE WEEK: ROBERT DELOACH

Deloach, 94, is a home-grown son of Beaufort and a veteran of World War II. After graduating from Beaufort High School in 1943, he started Clemson before enlisting in the Navy in 1945 where he became an Aviation Radioman and attended Naval Air Gunnery School.

He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal upon discharge in 1946, when he returned to complete an engineering degree at Clemson under the GI Bill before coming home to Beaufort to begin his civilian career.
