BLUFFTON — The Sand Sharks’ high-intensity style of play was in full force Saturday afternoon, as eight players hit double digits in the scorebook while the USC Beaufort men’s basketball ended 2023 with a 112-97 victory over visiting New College of Florida to remain perfect at home this season.

Larry Bulluck led the way for USCB with 19 points and Tasso Sfanos went 6-for-8 from beyond the arc, adding 18 off the bench. Marcus Overstreet added 15 and Kenney Gaines notched 14, while Qurahn Anderson had 12 to go with six boards and four assists, Kyle Polce added 11, and Kevaughn Price and Kobe Shewry eached posted 10.

The Mighty Banyans jumped out to a three-point lead just two minutes into the game but that was the last time NCF held the lead as USCB went on a 6-0 run and didn’t stop running. Beaufort held a lead as large as 19 midway through the half and went into the break up 58-43.

USCB kept its double-digit lead throughout the second period, but New College kept with striking distance for much of the half. With just more than a minute remaining, Anderson and Bulluck connected on an alley-oop to put the Sand Sharks over the century mark and give USC Beaufort a 20-point advantage. NCF trimmed five points off the lead, but USCB’s defense closed out the game for a 112-97 win.

The Sand Sharks break for the holidays and return to the hardwood January 3 to open Peach Belt play against Augusta University with a 3:30 p.m. scheduled tipoff.
