Beaufort’s Lamb; Whale Branch duo of Chisholm, Thompson honored

A dominant offensive lineman and a disruptive defensive duo — all of whom contributed heavily on both sides of ball — represented northern Beaufort County on the S.C. Football Coaches Association’s All-State Football Teams released Friday, Dec. 16.
Beaufort High senior Adrian Lamb earned a spot on the Class 3A first team a day before he helped the South Carolina squad secure a 24-0 victory over North Carolina in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas. Lamb was the anchor of the offensive line that helped the Eagles amass more than 2,500 rushing yards and average 6.5 yards per carry, and he also played a large role in the trenches on defense, compiling 46 tackles with four tackles for loss and a sack.
KJ Chisholm and Bradford Thompson were key cogs on both sides of the ball for Jerry Hatcher’s Whale Branch Warriors, who were undefeated going into the final week of the regular season before falling to Bamberg-Ehrhardt and Lake View in consecutive weeks to end their sensational senior campaigns.
Chisholm is committed to Jackson State to play defensive back, and he locked down one half of the secondary for the Warriors, but he also took over at quarterback and rushed for 594 yards (7.7 per carry) with a team-high 13 touchdowns along with a TD pass. He had 20 tackles with three interceptions and six pass breakups on defense despite most teams avoiding his side of the field.
Thompson made his presence felt most on defense with a team-high 64 tackles including 12 for loss and seven sacks, but he also had 416 yards and eight TDs on the ground.
