The high school football playoff brackets are set, and three Northern Beaufort County teams are ready to embark on their quests for a state championship.
Region 7-4A champion Beaufort High (4-5) received a first-round bye and will host the Hartsville-South Aiken winner in the second round Nov. 15. The Eagles have won four straight following an 0-5 start.
In the Class 3A bracket, Battery Creek (3-5) travels to Strom Thurmond for a first-round matchup.
Whale Branch (6-3) is the No. 4 seed out of the powerful Region 5-2A, but the Warriors caught a break with undefeated Oceanside Collegiate Academy being forced to forfeit two region games, dropping the Landsharks in the seeding. Instead of traveling to Timberland on Friday, the Warriors will now play at Philip Simmons — a team they beat 36-9 on Sept. 27.
