Still time to get tickets to Night on the Sound October 31

By Lanier Laney

If you haven’t been to the beautiful, well done Maritime Center on Lemon Island yet, then you must!

And take the whole family to this fun educational experience about the waters that surround us here and all the life it nurtures. The Port Royal Sound Foundation which funds the Maritime Center is holding its first fundraiser and it promises to become ‘the’ fall social event here in the Lowcountry.

This year’s event is called ‘Night on the Sound’, an elegant evening benefiting the Foundation’s education and research programs. The event will honor famed ocean environmentalist Philippe Cousteau, the handsome son of Jacque Cousteau who continued his father’s important work. The event also honors General Art Brown. Your ticket includes cocktails, a seated dinner, live music and what I’ve heard is a fantastic silent auction being put together by Dr. Jessica Rockwell.

Tickets are $250 ($125 is tax deductible) and are available online at www.portroyalsoundfoundation.org or call Alicia Taylor at 843-645-7774.
