Sheriff’s Office investigating shooting incident and suspicious fire

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that left a St. Helena man injured.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported gunshot victim on Seaside Rd just before 10 pm Saturday night.
Upon arrival, they made contact with two 18-year old males, one of whom was suffering from multiple gunshot
wounds. The men advised that they had been walking on Seaside Rd near Ballpark Rd when they noticed a small, silver
vehicle coming up behind them.As the vehicle came to a stop, an unknown black male exited and opened fire.
The victims ran towards Blazing Star lane, hiding in some bushes until the suspects left the area. Upon realizing
that his friend had been shot, the second victim contacted law enforcement. The injured victim was initially transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital and later flown to MUSC where he currently remains in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. The motive for the shooting has not been determined, and no suspects identified.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed an unoccupied mobile home early this morning. Sheriff’s deputies and Sheldon firefighters responded to 211 Morgan Rd at approximately 2:30 am this morning in reference to a structure fire. Upon arrival, the home was found to be fully engulfed in flames. The cause and source of the fire have yet to be determined. The home has been unoccupied for several years, and had no power connected at the time of the fire. The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Beaufort County
