Doug Emhoff

Second Gentleman visiting Beaufort

From staff reports

Doug Emhoff, the Second Gentleman and Vice President Kamala Harris’s husband, will visit Beaufort on Thursday, Jan. 11.

Emhoff will speak at the Old Grace Chapel AME Building at 502 Charles Street at noon. He will be speaking as part of the 2024 re-election campaign for President Joe Biden.

The public is cordially invited and encouraged to attend. However, those who plan to attend should arrive early because there will be security screening by the Secret Service and seating will be limited.

Attendees can park in the lot across the street from Old Grace AME or in the Baptist Church’s parking lot, one block north of Old Grace AME on Charles Street. Those who park in the Post Office lot are subject to being towed.

An attorney for more than 30 years, Emhoff began teaching courses at Georgetown University Law Center in 2020. He and the Vice President have been married for eight years and are the proud parents of Cole and Ella Emhoff.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and raised in Matawan, N.J., by his parents, Emhoff is the first Jewish spouse of an American president or vice president.
