1981: Greg Jones was born in Columbia. Jones was a star athlete at Battery Creek High School in the 1990s, earning All-State honors on offense (running back) and defense (linebacker) in football before going on to play college football at Florida State University. Drafted in the second round of the 2004 NFL draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jones played nine seasons in the NFL, eight with the Jaguars and one with the Houston Texans.
