Nominations open for Volunteer of Year

The Southern LowCountry S.C. Association of Volunteer Administrators is now accepting nominations for Volunteer of the Year awards.

Anyone who volunteers or works with or manages volunteers in the SoLoSCAVA region (Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper Counties) is eligible.

Eight awards will be presented in the following categories: community leader volunteer; director service volunteer; volunteer group; youth individual volunteer; volunteer family; workplace/agency/organization/association; legacy volunteer; and volunteer administrator.

The awards will be presented at SoLoSCAVA’s holiday mixer on Dec. 5. Nominated volunteers do not have to be members of SoLoSCAVA.

SoLo SCAVA is an affiliate of the S.C. Association for Volunteer Administration, a non-profit organization that provides opportunities and professional development to individuals and organizations with an interest in the field of volunteerism.

Membership is extended to individuals in the public and private sectors who wish to learn more about volunteerism, develop new skills, or shape the future of volunteerism in South Carolina. SCAVA offers workshops focusing on information and issues pertinent to volunteers and volunteer administration.

For more information about SoLoSCAVA and for an electronic nomination form, please contact Stan Stolarcyk at sstolarcyk@vimclinic.org. Submissions must be received by midnight, Nov. 15.
