Beaufort County Labor Day closings

In observance of the Labor Day holiday, all Beaufort County government services and programs will be closed Monday, Sept. 7.

Convenience Centers in Beaufort County will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, and will resume their regular schedules Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Operations at the Hilton Head Island Airport and Beaufort County Airport on Lady’s Island will remain available during the holiday.

Emergency services and law enforcement personnel will remain available.

All Beaufort County buildings remain closed to the public due to the coronavirus.

County spraying for mosquitoes

Beaufort County Mosquito Control may conduct aerial and/or ground treatments from through Friday, Sept. 4. Mosquito Control applies EPA-registered public health insecticide during ideal weather using low-flying aircraft throughout daylight hours and spray trucks from about 11 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. For additional information, please contact Mosquito Control at 843-255-5800.

County’s Greenprint survey still available

The Beaufort County Planning Department recently hosted a virtual community meeting to give the public an opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed County Greenprint Plan.

The online survey is still available for people to submit their feedback.

The feedback will help set preservation priorities such as water quality, cultural landscapes, critical habitats and protecting the cherished Lowcountry natural environment for generations to come.

County hosting recycling event

The Beaufort County Department of Solid Waste and Recycling will host two free electronics recycling events for County residents from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the following locations:

Beaufort County Public Works, 9 Benton Field Road, Bluffton

Beaufort County Public Works, 140 Shanklin Road, Beaufort

Per COVID-19, please STAY IN YOUR CAR during the event. Staff will unload electronics and will use personal protection equipment (masks and gloves).

Any personal computers, laptops, CRT monitors, LCD monitors, CRT televisions, non-CRT televisions, printers, hard drives and miscellaneous electronics (microwaves, cell phones, radios, fax machines, and typewriters) will be accepted.
