New principal named at BHS

Charity Summers

Charity Summers has been named the new principal at Beaufort High School, the Beaufort County School District announced last week.

Summers, currently principal at Garrett Academy of Technology, replaces Bonnie Almond, who was recently named as the district’s Chief Instructional Services Officer.

During Summers’ five-year tenure at Garrett Tech, the magnet school earned three statewide Palmetto Gold Awards for academic achievement. Prior to her work in Charleston County, she served as an assistant principal from 2006-12 at two schools in Dorchester District 2: Ashley Ridge High School and Charles B. DuBose Middle School.

Summers’ educational background includes a B.S. in Accounting from South Carolina State University, a Master of Business Administration from Webster University, and a master’s degree in secondary education administration from Charleston Southern University.
