New McTeer Bridge Span Officially Opens with Ceremony

By Gene Brancho

The new McTeer Bridge span is officially open after the final barrels and construction equipment were removed following a ceremony this morning with town and county officials, a ‘blessing of the bridge’, and even a poem by County Council member Laura Von Harten.   Quick Facts:  The bridge spans a total of 4,210 feet, has a 10′ bike path, and was finished only 3 months past it’s anticipated completion date, at a total cost of $36 million, which was paid for by a voter-approved 1% sales tax increase, along with State & Federal Grants, and Impact Fees.
