Man shot in Polk Village

At approximately 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the Polk Village neighborhood of Beaufort. 

At the scene, deputies located an adult male who sustained gunshot wounds. 

Emergency Medical Services transported the wounded man to Beaufort Memorial Hospital. 

According to the Sheriff’s Office, it was learned that the subject responsible for the shooting fled the area before deputies arrived. 

Based on witness interviews and other information gathered at the scene, it appears the shooting was a targeted incident and there is not believed to be a threat to the general public, the Sheriff’s Office said. 

As of press time, there was no update on the wounded man’s condition. 

Anyone with information on the shooting is encouraged to contact Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at 9-1-1.
