Lunch Bunch chows down on some of the best pub food in town at Rosie O’Gradys

By Pamela Brownstein

Although many may associate Rosie O’Gradys as a lively bar that draws a late night crowd, this pub also serves up quite a delicious lunch menu.

On a Friday afternoon, the Lunch Bunch chowed down on a variety of Rosie’s most popular items, and we all left feeling so full and satisfied.

For starters, we tried the awesome breaded mozzarella cheese sticks served with marinara sauce, as well as an eight-piece basket of Rosie-O-Wings. Often voted the best wings in town, we chose the jumbo chicken wings with Jamaican Jerk rub and it was easy to understand how they earned that distinction. Kim was also a big fan of the fried oyster special with extra yum-yum sauce.

We enjoyed a perfectly cooked, 8 ounce Beaufort Burger, and Elizabeth really liked the flavor of the new Geechee Boy Reuben served on marble rye. Although not usually my first choice, I thought the popular fish and chips basket — deep-fried fillet of cod served with malt vinegar and a Creole tartar sauce — was excellent. Buck raved about the Frogmore Philly Cheese Steak: choice grilled meat with peppers, onions, Provolone and an Asian pepper cream sauce on a hoagie roll. It was hard to find fault with any of the food, and I would recommend Rosie’s to anyone with a big appetite.

Rosie O’Gradys is located in Beaufort Town Center, 2127 Boundary Street, Beaufort, SC, 29902. For more information, call 843-379-7676.
