Locals ‘Eat Up’ the Best of the Lowcountry

Golfers and United Way supporters sampled and tasted Monday evening at the Best of the Lowcountry, an event hosted by Mercedes-Benz of Hilton Head and benefitting the United Way of the Lowcountry. The event capped a day of golf with an inaugural golf tournament held at Oldfield Golf Club. While anticipating the announcement of the tournament winner, attendees enjoyed food provided by The Bluffton Room, Salty Dog Café and Lowcountry Lobster. Samples of bourbon, shared by the Roasting Room, along with beer tastings from Southern Barrel Brewing and River Dog Brewing quenched the thirst a day of golfing creates. Outside, amid the perfect early summer evening, Low Country Boil Band belted out bluegrass tunes.

“We were honored Mercedes-Benz of Hilton Head hosted the golf tournament and evening event to benefit our organization. This event is another example of the community coming together to make a difference in the lives of our friends and neighbors,” said Tina Lamb Gentry, President/CEO of United Way of the Lowcountry.

The most anticipated part of the evening came when Chuck Michaels and Jeff Wong were named the winning team of the first annual tournament. Michaels and Wong accepted their trophies and won a spot on the dealer team that will participate in the sectional tournament to be held at the Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina. “The tournament was well organized and full of good people,” Michaels said as he cradled his trophy and smiled.
