Lady’s Island Elementary and Coosa Elementary third graders use the term friends 4-ever a lot in their writing, that’s because both third grade classes are pen pals with each other. Teachers Lori Baggett and Patty Huckabee were looking for a fun way to motivate their students to write and thought pen-pals was an informal way to enhance the writing standards for those reluctant writers. On Friday, May 13, the students came together to meet their pen pals for pizza, recess and great conversations.
