The entire Gullah/Geechee family is invited to come together from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at the St. Helena Island Martin L. King Jr. Memorial Park for the “Juneteenth Celebration of Freedom.” Guests are encouraged to bring drums, chairs and an open spirit and support the Gullah/Geechee craft artists, authors, business owners and chefs. There will also be activities for children. Juneteenth is the oldest commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. Visit www.gullahgeecheenation.com.
