JPII runs away from Northwood for region win

John Paul II earned its first region win since 2018 with a dominant 35-12 victory at Northwood Academy on Friday.

Jeremiah Young rushed 13 times for 193 yards and a touchdown and was 9 for 12 passing for 140 yards and two scores, and Jackson Ogden added 100 yards and a TD on 11 carries to lead the way for JPII.

Mark Knight rushed six times for 54 yards and a TD and added three receptions for 60 yards and a score, and Malone Kinard-Huisinger had two catches for 53 yards and a TD for the Golden Warriors.

JPII’s defense allowed just one scoring drive, as the Chargers’ other touchdown came on a 90-yard scoop-and-score. Austin McIntosh led the defensive effort with nine tackles (seven solo) and two sacks while adding 47 yards on 15 carries. Hayden Jennings collected 10 tackles (six solo).

JPII (2-4, 1-1) travels to undefeated Hilton Head Christian Academy on Friday.
