HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Bridges Teams wrap up titles

LowcoSports.com

The top two teams in the Region 5-2A girls soccer standings quickly separated themselves from the pack this season, and the girls from Bridges Prep made it clear which of them was the cream of the crop.

The Buccaneers blasted Hampton County, 10-0, in a matchup of region unbeatens on Tuesday in Varnville, then hammered the Hurricanes, 12-1, at home Friday to complete a perfect run through the region and wrap up the region title.

Bridges (12-4, 6-0) has won three straight and six of its last seven matches, and all four of the Bucs’ losses have come to Class 4A and Class 5A opponents, so they should be well-tested for the Class 2A playoffs, especially after four more tune-ups against quality squads to close out the regular season.

The Bridges boys also rolled through their region slate, finishing 8-0 and outscoring the opposition, 64-8, after completing the regular season with 7-0 and 6-1 wins over Hampton County.
