Hicks powers Whale Branch Warriors to region title

Whale Branch spoiled Senior Night at Cross on Friday and walked away with the Region 7-1A title in the process, beating the Trojans 33-14.

Joseph Hicks powered the Warriors’ ground game with 202 yards and three TDs on just 11 carries, and Jaylen Reeves and Trenoyne Greene also found the end zone.

The Trojans were able to contain Reeves, limiting him to 23 yards and a score on 10 carries, but they had no answer for Hicks. Jadon Grant added 37 yards on nine carries, and Greene broke a 39-yard touchdown on his only touch of the night.

The Warriors (4-0) wrap up region play at home against Charleston Math & Science at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
