Firefighters to help with Santa’s mail again

From staff reports

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Burton Fire District firefighters have again volunteered to assist Santa Claus with his mail from area children by placing Santa’s mailboxes up at each of their fire stations.

Each year Burton firefighters have coordinated with Santa Claus and his elves to help Santa get his Christmas mail on time by placing mailboxes at all five district fire stations for children to mail their letters.

While firefighters will be taking extra precautions in handling the mail this year due to COVID-19, they refuse to be deterred in carrying out what firefighters feel is their sacred duty to area children, and to help families have the best holiday season possible, especially this year.

Santa mailboxes will remain up through the morning of Thursday, Dec. 17. The mailboxes are white, adorned with his Santa’s face, and will be plainly visible at the front of each fire station. Santa promises that all letters with a legible name and address will receive his personal reply by Christmas.
