Beaufort’s Weber graduates from College of Charleston

The College of Charleston recently awarded undergraduate and graduate degrees during the Winter 2023 Commencement ceremony. Ashley Weber of Beaufort (29907) graduated with a Master of Education in Languages.

Weber was among more than 370 bachelor’s degree and master’s degree candidates who participated in the ceremony.

Located in the heart of historic Charleston, South Carolina, the College of Charleston is a nationally recognized public liberal arts and sciences university. Founded in 1770, the College is among the nation’s top universities for quality education, student life and affordability.

Willingham graduates from Lander

Lander University conferred bachelor’s and master’s degrees to 270 graduates during the University’s 168th Commencement Ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023. The Class of 2023 includes graduates from local communities, cities and regions across South Carolina, including Beaufort’s McCayla Ann Denise Willingham, who graduated Cum Laude with a Golden L with a  Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Cum Laude is a distinction awarded to graduates with a cumulative GPA of 3.50-3.74, while the Golden L is given to graduates who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher in the last 60 hours of instruction.

Founded in 1872, Lander University is a co-educational, state-assisted, four-year University serving more than 4,300 students and offering more than 90 areas of study in the liberal arts and sciences located in Greenwod, S.C.

Page named to Troy Chancellor’s List

Matthew Page of Beaufort has been named to the Chancellor’s List at Troy (Ala.) University for the Fall Semester/Term 2 of the 2023-2024 academic year.

The Chancellor’s List honors full-time undergraduate students who are registered for at least 12 semester hours and who earn a grade point average of 4.0.

Troy University is a public, historic, international university with 22,500 students and 154,000 alumni. Students on the Troy, Ala. campus enjoy a traditional college experience, while adult students are the centers of attention at campuses in Dothan, Montgomery and Phenix City, Ala., as well as at locations around the world and online.

Pellegrino named to Berry Dean’s List

Beaufort’s Sophia Pellegrino was named to the Fall 2023 Dean’s List at Berry College. The Dean’s List honors students who posted an academic average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale while carrying a class load of at least 12 hours during the semester.

Nationally recognized for academic excellence and as an outstanding educational value, Berry is an independent, coeducational, comprehensive liberal arts college of approximately 2,200 students. For more than a century, the college has offered an exceptional education that balances intellectual exploration, practical learning, and character development. Its 27,000-acre campus in Rome, Ga., is the world’s largest. 

SNHU Announces Fall 2023 President’s List

Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) congratulates 10 students from the Beaufort area on being named to the Fall 2023 President’s List. The fall terms run from September to December.

Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to the President’s List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.

Those honored include Ashley Donato of Beaufort (29902); Diamond Benitez Ortega of Beaufort (29902); Emani Peterson of Beaufort (29906); Karyn Richardson of Beaufort (29906); Elisabeth Geines of Beaufort (29906); Alana White of Beaufort (29906); James Cook of Beaufort (29907); Andrew Deems of Beaufort (29907); Justin Bryson of Ladys Island (29907); and Tracy Pichardo of Beaufort (29907)

4 from Beaufort make Georgia Southern’s Fall 2023 President’s List

Georgia Southern University recently recognized approximately 2,350 students – including four from Beaufort – for excellence in academics on the Fall 2023 President’s List. To be eligible for the President’s List, a student must have at least a 4.0 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

Beaufort students honored include Jayra Hernandez (29906), Oakley Magbee (29902), Olivia Hogle (29906) and Lindsey Breaux (29907).

Georgia Southern University, a public Carnegie Doctoral/R2 institution founded in 1906, offers approximately 155 different degree programs serving more than 26,100 students through 10 colleges on three campuses in Statesboro, Savannah, Hinesville and online instruction.

Georgia Southern University recently recognized approximately 3,550 students –  including eight from Beaufort – for excellence in academics on the Fall 2023 Dean’s List. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, a student must have at least a 3.5 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

Beaufort students honored include Jamiah Johnson (29902), Ashlee Gomez (29906), Jason Hernandez (29906), Sergio Smith (29907), Lily Melville (29907), Victoria Floyd (29907), Cristos Kramer (29902) and Sara Sanchez (29906).

3 from Beaufort make Wofford’s Fall 2023 Dean’s List

Wofford College provost Dr. Timothy Schmitz has announced Dean’s List students for the fall 2023 semester including three students from Beaufort: Hayden Canaday, Bailey Herron, and Morgan McDermott.

Wofford College, established in 1854, is a four-year, residential liberal arts college located in Spartanburg, S.C. It offers 27 major fields of study to a student body of 1,875 undergraduates.
