Eat, shop, and be scary at this First Friday

From staff reports

October’s First Friday event, hosted by The Downtown Beaufort Merchants Association, is the perfect way to jump start the weekend and usher in the fall season while spending an evening out with family and friends.

From 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, businesses and restaurants along Bay Street and the downtown business core will feature promotions, demonstrations, and specials throughout the evening.

There will be music by DJ Mike Partain to add ambiance for those strolling from shop to shop.

On First Friday, shoppers can take part in a Halloween-themed scavenger hunt, as well.

The challenge is to visit participating businesses to pick up a scavenger hunt shopper’s card, and while browsing in each shop, look for the pumpkin that will be hidden somewhere in the store.

After having their card punched at least (10) locations they spot the pumpkin, participants will be entered into a gift card drawing. Gift cards will be from DBMA member shops, and winners will be announced via Facebook Live at noon on Saturday, Oct. 3.

First Friday is a perfect reason to visit downtown – to have a great meal and check out unique shops, galleries, and specialty stores.

This and all First Friday Events are free and open to the public. For more information about First Friday, participating businesses, upcoming promotions and scavenger hunt rules, visit the Downtown Merchants Association at https://www.downtownbeaufortsc.org/.
