Beaufort High wins JPII Warrior Duals

Beaufort High’s wrestling team continued its recent surge with a dominant day at the inaugural John Paul II Warrior Duals, going 5-0 to capture the title with a 59-24 win over the host Golden Warriors in the championship match.

The Eagles went 3-0 in pool matches, easily defeating a combined squad from Patrick Henry and Colleton Prep, along with JPII and Trinity Collegiate, while the Golden Warriors went 2-1 to earn the No. 2 seed from the pool. Bridges Prep defeated Bluffton, Battery Creek, and Northwood Academy in its pool matches to claim the top seed from Pool A with the Dolphins in second.

JPII pulled out a 43-36 win over the Bucs in the semifinals to set up a rematch with Beaufort, which dispatched crosstown rival Battery Creek in a 59-21 rout and sent the Dolphins into the third-place match for a rematch with Bridges Prep. The pool results held, as the Eagles handled JPII and Bridges won 44-28 over Battery Creek.

Antonio McKnight, Olesya Mullins, Jaden Priester, Santino Communale, Jessob Paris, Chase Richardson, and Colton Freeman all went 5-0 on the day for Beaufort, while Jude Witkowski, Jase Reynolds, Brian Orta, and Tripp Thiesen all had perfect days for JPII.

JPII hosts Porter-Gaud and Hardeeville for its final home match of the regular season at 11 a.m. Saturday.
