The Beaufort High Eagles continued their dominant play on both sides of the ball in a 47-7 win over the visiting Bluffton Bobcats on Friday.
The Eagles came out establishing the run game with the running back duo of Jaylin Houseal and Amariee Morris rumbling down the field putting up points for the Eagles. The Eagles defense continued to be a strong force at the line of scrimmage, like they’ve been all season with the help of Eamon Smalls, Alvin Wilson, Jeramiah Simmons, and Theo Washington disrupting the Bobcats’ backfield the entire night.
The Eagles offense set the tone for the game with a 30-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Haley to wide receiver Kacy Fields, which was the spark that ignited the dynamic Eagles offense. The defense came out with an immediate three-and-out, forcing the Bobcats to give the ball back to the Eagles.
The Eagles rumbled past midfield field and ended the drive with a 44-yard pass from Haley to Fields to make the score 14-0 midway through the second quarter, and the Eagles’ defense managed to quickly get the offense back on the field.
Beaufort High’s offense was ready to attack, driving the ball down the field to end with a 20-yard pass from Haley to Rhogue Wallace for a toe-tap touchdown that made the score 21-0 early in the second quarter. Haley finished the game with 132 yards passing to go with three touchdowns.
The Bobcats came back on the field and tried to get something started on offense and just couldn’t get anything done. A strip sack from Wilson was recovered by Bluffton, but the Eagles forced another punt and the snap sailed high and went out of bounds for a safety to make it 23-0.
The Eagles offense continued to relentlessly pound its way down the field to finish the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run from Houseal and a 30-0 lead midway through the second quarter. Houseal finished the night with 12 rushes for 111 yards and a TD. The eagles got another chance to score shortly after that but settled for a field goal from Joe Caparola.
Morris carried in two more touchdowns to cap the scoring and finished the night with 12 rushes for 101 yards and two touchdowns. The Bobcats finally got on the board with a 30-yard touchdown pass from Max Vonhohenstraeten to Jaylin Linder to cap the scoring.
Now the Eagles (3-0) will face off against visiting Colleton County (2-1) for another region game. They can clinch a playoff spot with a win. The Bobcats (0-4) host James Island next Friday.
