Dataw Island named a ‘Best Golf Community’ for the second year

From staff reports

For the second consecutive year, ideal-LIVING magazine has named Dataw Island a “Best Golf Community” in their annual “Best of the Best” awards.

“The ‘Best of the Best’ feature honors those areas and communities which deserve special recognition for their outstanding qualities, facilities, and programs,” ideal-LIVING’s editor and associate publisher Kelly Godbey said in a release.

Dataw Island has shown continued dedication to delivering a world-class golf experience to its members and guests while also being a responsible steward of natural resources. Brian Hollingsworth, the Director of Golf Maintenance for the community’s two courses, maintains both 18-hole golf courses as Audubon Sanctuary-certified and has developed a water stewardship program that includes use of captured rainwater and effluent water.

“We are blessed with a gorgeous natural backdrop here in the Lowcountry,” Hollingsworth said in a release, “and our team is committed to preserving that beauty not just for this generation but for many to follow. We are proud of our environmental accomplishments and are grateful for the recognition as one of the ‘Best of the Best.’ ”

Hollingsworth oversees both Tom Fazio’s “Cotton Dike” course and Arthur Hills’ “Morgan River” course.
