From staff reports

Samaritan’s Feet and Tidal Creek Fellowship gave away more than 600 pairs of athletic shoes to elementary school students at two events last week in Beaufort.

Volunteers from Tidal Creek and the community served the students one-on-one, fit them with their new shoes, and tried to encourage them. Each student receives a “Hope Tote” orange bag containing new athletic shoes, socks, a hygiene kit, and an encouraging Hope Note message written from someone around the world.

The two events were Sept. 6 at St. Helena Elementary School and Sept. 8 at Lady’s Island Elementary.

Tidal Creek Fellowship was the local sponsor of these events. The church wanted to give back to the community in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the church. Over the past several months, the church fundraised for these events by holding a barefoot gala with a silent auction and accepting donations.

Samaritan’s Feet is a 501(c)(3) humanitarian aid organization that serves and inspires hope in people by providing shoes as the foundation to a spiritual and healthy life resulting in the advancement of education and economic opportunities.
