The Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce’s August Business After Hours function will be held at Kazoobie Kazoos from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 5.
Members and guests are invited to network with other area business leaders while celebrating Kazoobie’s grand re-opening after a makeover of the factory’s showroom and kazoo museum.
“After having a kazoo museum for 10 years, we thought it was time to refresh,” Kazoobie Kazoos owner and City of Beaufort Mayor Stephen Murray said.
Murray said the renovation, a year in the works, was made easier by curator Boaz Frankel, a friend from Pittsburgh who has friends who offered to help with the design and implementation.
“In March, my father-in-law and I started building displays,” Murray said. “Then Sarah (Barnwell) built a really amazing, almost 3,000-kazoo American flag.”
The museum re-opened in the second week in May.
“It’s a much more modern space that’s more of a museum that it was,” said Murray, who has been in the kazoo business 20 years. “Given the investment, we thought it was appropriate to have a party.”
