Beaufort’s Anderson right at home at Harbour Town

“Home games” are rare in professional golf, even when your hometown is a golf-crazed place like Beaufort County.

Beaufort’s Mark Anderson hopes to make the most of the home-course advantage this week when he tees it up in the 51st annual RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island.

Anderson is playing the Heritage for the seventh time — the sixth as a professional — and he has enjoyed success at Harbour Town in the past, making the cut four times. His best finish was a tie for 13th in 2012, when he carded rounds of 69 and 68 on the weekend to charge up the leaderboard.

Anderson is playing full-time on the Web.com Tour this season, where he sits third in the season-long rankings thanks to a win at the Country Club de Bogota Championship in Colombia in February. The 33-year-old Beaufort Academy alumnus hasn’t played a PGA Tour event since the 2017 Wyndham Championship.
