Beaufort High moved ahead early and never faltered in its latest outing on the gridiron, defeating R.B. Stall 63-6 in a high school football game on Friday night. With the win, Beaufort High improved to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in Region 8-AAA. R.B. Stall dropped to 0-6 overall and 0-1 in the region with the loss.
The Eagles thrived on offense, defense and special teams. On the defensive side, Beaufort High posted two interceptions, including a pick it returned for a touchdown. Reid Daughtry and Elijah Thrower each notched an interception. Thrower returned his pick for a 50-yard touchdown.
In a dominant performance, Beaufort High, under the direction of head coach Mark Clifford, blanked R.B. Stall 28-0 in the first quarter then led 48-6 at halftime. As a team, Beaufort High rushed for 504 yards on 38 carries. The Eagles averaged 13.3 yards per carry in the matchup. Sophomore Kyleik Middleton paced Beaufort High offensively, rushing five times for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Following Middleton in the Beaufort High rushing column, Wyatt Sherpensky rushed seven times for 90 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Eagles. Another Beaufort High running back, Jeffrey Tookes, rushed seven times for 62 yards and one touchdown in the victory.
Adding to its lead shortly after intermission, Beaufort High scored two touchdowns in the third quarter, Beaufort High will visit Hilton Head Island High School for a key Region 80-AAA matchup at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 16.
