Beaufort dominates at weightlifting tournament

After one day of lifting, Team Beaufort has won the 13 and under boys championship at the USAW Youth National in St. Joseph, Missouri. The team has broken numerous national records and one member was awarded the Key to the City of St. Joseph.

Here are some of the stats from the day. Youth American Records:

• 13 & Under Boys

62kg: Clarence Cummings Junior (Beaufort, SC – Team Savannah) – 100kg, 125kg for a 225kg Total.

• Best Lifters U13 Boys

1. CJ Cummings (Beaufort, SC – Team Savannah) – Awarded the Key to the City of St. Joseph, MO.

2.       William Cohen (Savannah, GA – Team Savannah)

CJ’s total was 225kg (approx 495 lbs)  His Snatch was 100kg (approx. 220 lbs) and Clean and Jerk 125kg (approx 275 lbs). And he’s only 13 years old.

On the second day of competition, more records were broken by Team Beaufort member Omar Cummings.  He also received best lifter in his weight class in Mens 14-15.

On the final day of lifting, Team Beaufort won the USAW Youth Nationals Overall Boys Championship.  This is the sixth win for Team Beaufort!
