Veteran administrator Juliet White, PhD, has been selected to lead the Beaufort County School District’s Student Services division that encompasses special education, alternative programming, guidance counseling, adult education, nursing, athletics, and additional student services/initiatives.
White, who has served as the district’s Director of Special Education since 2019, brings 28 years of educational experience to the role of Student Services Officer. She started her career as a speech-language pathologist and clinical instructor and has served districts across the state of S.C. as director of special services, executive director of special education programs, and assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.
White is enthusiastic about her new role and strongly believes all students can achieve at their highest levels with the appropriate supports. “This division will provide a variety of services to support staff, students, and families to eliminate obstacles, facilitate instruction, and enable students to succeed within their learning environment.”
White holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in speech pathology and audiology, as well as an education specialist degree in educational leadership, all from South Carolina State University. She also earned a doctorate in speech pathology and audiology from the University of South Carolina, where her dissertation research examined early predictors of academic achievement in low income students.
“I am excited to reinvigorate the Student Services Division,” Superintendent Frank Rodriguez said in a release. “Given Dr. White’s passion for this work and her vast experience, I know she will lead her division well to provide the supports needed to help move academic achievement forward so our students can reach their full potential and succeed, both in the classroom and in life.”
