The Battery Creek High School marching band was chosen to be one of 10 bands marching in the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade.
According to WTOC, someone spotted a YouTube video of the Dolphins doing their thing and invited them to Chicago.
“This is a first for any school in South Carolina, let alone Beaufort County,” wrote WTOC’s Jamie Ertel.
The trip cost each student more than $800. Much of that money was crowd-sourced from the local community.
The parade begins at 8 a.m. The forecast is 36° and mostly cloudy, so these Lowcountry teenagers are in for a bracing experience.
