The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), which owns and maintains the Woods Memorial Bridge in downtown Beaufort, confirmed that the bridge’s wooden fender system was hit Tuesday morning by a working barge. The bridge itself was not damaged, and traffic was not impacted. SCDOT had just completed repairs to the fenders last month. Submitted photos
