Beaufort Academy’s Kaylee Bartholomew was one of three Beaufort County swimmers who won multiple events in the seven-team Hilton Head Christian Academy Invitational on Saturday at Island Rec Center.

Cardinal Newman swept the team titles, blowing away the competition in the girls standings and edging Palmetto Christian by two points on the boys side. Beaufort Academy placed fourth in the girls standings and fifth in the boys ranks, while Hilton Head Christian Academy was sixth in both, and Hilton Head Prep was seventh across the board.

The highlight of the day for Beaufort Academy came in the girls 100 breaststroke, where Bartholomew and Kat Taylor finished first and second. Bartholomew also placed second in the 200 IM.

Despite finishing at the bottom of the team standings, Hilton Head Prep had some of the strongest individual performances of the day by the local contingent. Sterling Burd won the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly on the girls side, while Mark Lofye (200 freestyle, 500 freestyle) was a dual winner on the boys side. Luke Aragon won the boys 200 IM and was second in the 100 breast, and Dora Prudhomme was second in the girls 500 free for the Dolphins.

The host Eagles also had a dual-winner, as HHCA’s Caleb Eidson won the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
