Beaufort Academy students recently participated in a Marine Science hands on activity, “Real Life Experiences.”
This lesson focused on how engineers use various techniques to provide speedy solutions to oil spill or other threats to natural water resources. Each lab group was given the challenge of first containing, and then cleaning up an oil spill. Each group had to gather materials and come up with a strategy to remove as much oil as possible. Students observed all of the different approaches and evaluated the results.
