American Legion Oratorical Contest now open

From staff reports

The American Legion Beaufort Post 9 will hold an Oratorical Scholarship Contest in January for Beaufort area high school students with college scholarships – up to $25,000 for students bound to any college in the United States.

Up to six selected participants will give a short, prepared oration on some aspect of the U.S. Constitution and respond to an assigned topic. Post 9 wants Beaufort area high school students to show their knowledge and appreciation of our Constitution and show how they are prepared for the duties,

responsibilities, and privileges of American citizenship.

Parents, students or teachers should contact Matt Swinsick at 843-277-7906 or (swinsickmul@gmail.com) with any questions or to register. Registration deadline is Dec. 15. More information is available at www.bftamlegpost9.org.
