Beauty is my business

By Takiya Smith

As an independent business owner, and just personally in life, one of the most cringe-worthy phrases I despise to hear is: “I just didn’t want to bother you with it.” From friends to strangers, employees to clients, I have never been one to grasp the concept of understanding the casualness of this impersonal phrase. Perhaps due to the simple fact that often times the matter behind the message is far from nonchalant and can be very personal.

For instance, as a beauty consultant, my role is to do just that: To consult you regarding your beauty. Whether it be strategically placing false lashes to look as if they are your own, arching your brows precisely to soften the look of your face or to lengthen your hair with extensions to give you a bold and sexy confidence, beauty is my business. To me, beauty is more than just the look of things but is the solid foundation upon which confidence, self-esteem and character are built. Day in and day out, I see many women who understand the vitality of these principles. My goal and purpose as your personal consultant is just that — personal.

So if a lash is out of place, a hair has blown away in the wind or one brow seems higher than the other, my understanding of what matters to you matters most to me.

As a representative of the industry and a business owner, I value communication most.  For three remarkable years I have serviced well over 700 fabulous clients; some faithful to the day, some come and go, however, it is with the same growing passion that I have made it known to each and all that beauty is my business. It’s what I love, and I love what I do!
