The Beaufort Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) celebrated the 65th anniversary of the chapter with a luncheon at the Dataw Island Club Tabby Room on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024. Beaufort Branch member Tally Essman presented a look at the chapter’s history including pictures and archival information documenting the chapter’s activities over the past 65 years. This included a diverse series of educational and cultural programs, as well as programs highlighting local issues. In addition, the history of AAUW Beaufort Branch scholarship awards and annual STEAM Day program for middle school girls were highlighted. AAUW S.C. President Doris McLallen addressed the group, celebrating this milestone, and spoke about AAUW’s commitment to advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research.
