Super Bowl XLVI: Commercials, Parties… and a game too

/

Super Bowl XLVI was the big news yesterday an estimated 111 million people around the world tuned in to watch the New York Giants take this year’s title in a 21 to 17 victory over the New England Patriots.  That’s not all that folks tuned in for…

Also a hit during the Super Bowl is the undeniable interest in the new commercials that air for the first time (for most) during the game.  It seems like companies ‘hold out’ their best ads for the big game.  Companies paid an average of $3.5 million for a 30-second spot for the right to duke it out Sunday in front of the expected 111 million-plus fans.  This year, celebrities including  Betty White, Matthew Broderick, Jay Leno, Donald Trump, Elton John, and Clint Eastwood were all tapped to be in major ad campaigns.

Beaufort area businesses got into the mood with parties and offered specials, prizes,  and even some free food to attract customers to their establishments, and the traditional ‘Super Bowl Party at My House’ resounded through the area.

It’s not just a game anymore…it’s THE Super Bowl.
