Jackson said the technical eduation puts people in contention for top technical paying jobs offering $20 and hour starting salary. Mark Williams of SC Works of the Lowcountry, said only 32 people patrons showed up to look for top paying technical jobs in the Beaufort/Jasper/Hampton/Colleton County areas. “Federal unemployment assitance ended June 27”, he said. “We would have figured that people would have run out of assitance money by now and needed to go back to work. It just hasn’t happened”. Williams said SC Works has had 20 hiring events within the four counties with very few job seekers. “The patrons just aren’t showing up to look for work.”
