Board approves school calendar for 2021-22 academic year

The Beaufort County Board of Education has approved the district’s academic calendar for the 2021-22 school year.

The first day for students will be Monday, Aug. 16, and the final day of classes will be Friday, May 27, 2022.

Current state law mandates that no South Carolina public school can begin classes prior to the third Monday in August, which this year is August 16.

Holiday dates are Sept. 6 (Labor Day); Nov. 11 (Veterans Day); Nov. 24-26 (Thanksgiving); Dec. 20-Jan. 3, 2022 (winter break); Jan. 17, 2022 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day); Feb. 21, 2022 (President’s Day); April 11-15, 2022 (spring break, includes Good Friday); and May 30 (Memorial Day.)

Three potentially virtual weather make-up days are included: Dec. 20-21 and April 11.

Teacher work days are Monday-Friday, Aug. 9-13; Tuesday, Jan. 4; Friday, March 18; Tuesday, May 31; and Wednesday-Thursday, June 1-2.
